Island of the Blue Dolphins, Charlie & the Chocolate Factory, James the Giant Peach, Charlotte's Web, The Boxcar Children, the Ramona books, Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing (and other Judt Blume books), and the Little House Books. I still read these books today (and I'm certainly not a little kid!).
Many of them have covers so worn, I have to be careful not to pull them off - the sign of a much loved book!!
Great question - you made me think for today! :)

When I was little I loved the Serendipity stories. They were moral tales using mostly fantasy animals and characters with beautiful color illustrations throughout the books.
My favorite book to read now with my son is Tacky the Penguin. Tacky is very funny.

Mr. Pudgins by Ruth Carlson. About a magical babysitter who could make soda come out of the faucets and bathtubs fly. It's out of print now, unfortunately.

I'm a tad bit older than you as I read your favorite books to my kindergarten class.
My favorites were Uncle Wiggley, Black Beauty, Little Women, C.W. Anderson books (Blaze).
