...but can you charge an 'entry fee' for people for an event that INCLUDES food & drink? (or sell tickets with a 'food & drink included' notation.)
I organised a fundraiser with a Christmas theme and "Sherry & a mince pie" were included in the ticket price. The fact that it was in September helped to garner support I think!
How about a 'Hawaiian Party Night' in the depths of winter - or a 'Christmas Party' in June?
People love the unusual - and are always ready for a good night out.
When you are looking to book your venue - ask them to donate a bottle of spirit as a prize; then use the bottle as an all night target... set it in an area free from passing feet and draw a bullseye on the floor (if it's in a cormer it can be a quarter of a bullseye etc.) people roll coins towards the bottle all night - nearest coin wins the bottle! By clearing all but the closest coin to the bottle all night you will encourage others to have a go.
We did it once with a bottle of vodka donated by the venue host and we made over £100 on that alone! It was the biggest individual money-maker of the night - early in the night people rolled 20p's (minimum value permitted and by their design very wobbly and hard to direct) - by half past eleven some men were even rolling £2 coins at it! (hic* "If I can just get it to stop when it's leaning up against the bottle - it's mine... hic*)
Strangely - we didn't discourage this drunken behaviour!
Can be done with a box of tea bags, a jar of coffee or anything you think might work for your 'audience'.

car washes , yard /rumage sales , raffle tickets for certain prizes , ie get a 50 to 100 dollar prize and sale tickets for like a buck the prize can be something that others may want like a digital camera , an mp3 player etc , , yard sales work well to get friends and neighbors and others at your company to donate good used items to sale , another thing u may consider is getting a costume of a bunny and have pics taken with the bunny etc for a price u have to spend a lil to make a lil but u may be able to talk to local bussneses etc to see if they can help by donating various items , youll be surprised how many are willing to help , u may even try putting a collection jar etc inside of your local grocery store with the charitys name or organitions name on it asking for donantions ,
there s also the oriental trading comapany they have a online site wher e u can order things to sale pretty cheap , u can get like pencils , craft items , beads , etc in bulk , for as little as 10 bucks , there so many things u can do , if u need the money now u may see if thery have like a helen grace in your area , , u can even have like a lil carnival . the possibilities are there , no matter what u decide talk to local bussinesses and see if they can donate prizes gifts etc , to help with the fund raisers

Rent someplace where it's in a nice area...Throw a party/dance like thing (charge to come)...(have it be semi-formal always helps to sell tickets)...Pay for good advertising on the party...when there inside you can raffle thing off...Maybe a party out of it...maybe a good town band can come...yes this cost money but when you play ur cards right you could make a nice profit...
You didn't really give enough info on this so...I don't know if this would work for you!!!
But i've done something like that and i made a nice profit!!!
