Im just asking. google search "melanin theory" I don't ascribe to that particular point of view, but I was wondering what other people thought about it?

for the lazy people. It basically says that melanin (melanin is more than just a sunscreen) is found throughtout nature and that white peoples lack of it makes them inferior. Like I said, Im not sold on this idea. But wondered what other people think

Nope.
Evolutionarily speaking, a genetic mutation isn't an abnormality, it's just a different type of a certain gene. The differences in melanin content in the skin of people around the globe has to do with various adaptations to the different environments around the globe- this means that people with lighter skin are a little better suited to a sunless, gloomy climate like Scandinavia and darker-skinned people are a little better suited to sunny, tropical climates like Indonesia and parts of India. But skin color is determined by more than just melanin; in fact it is in part determined by the environment in which you live. And actually, there's such a range of skin colors on the African continent alone that it's even hard to generalize about one region of the world.

So I would say that what you call "Melanin theory" is total bunk. It's definitely not the scientifically accepted version of theories on melanin and skin color.
By the way, if you compare modern humans with, say, Australopithecus, we are ALL mutants!
Yay evolution ;)

Why should the color of someones skin, black, white, red, or yellow, make them in any way inferior to someone of another color. I believe melanin is mainly determined by the area the peoples ancestors originated. Usually, the hotter the climate, the darker the people.

We have been educated in the past decade or so by the study of genealogy that we have all come out of Africa.............we are all one race. The lack of melanin in people's make up is a result of the climate and lack of exposure to sun we have had. If you went over to Africa you would be pale in comparison to the blacks there. You are darker than me because your ancesters spent more time near the equator and greater time in the sun.......but you too are paling in your new climate. In short my ancestors had dark skin at one point too. If we could all just see that skin color is as irrelevant has whether you care to tan or not......WOW..........what a nice world it could be. One race the human race!

The lack of melanin makes them more susceptible to sunburn or skin cancer, but that doesn't make them inferior human beings. It's probably just a result of where they evolved geographically.

Yes, to the extant that all evolution is the result of mutation.

I would question whether lack of melanin translated into inferiority, however.
