I prefer a local coffee shop, mainly because of the ambience and the "homey" feel of it. Being in a chain restaurant, coffee shop, or anything for that matter sort of makes me feel disconnected from the world around me. I like sitting in the comfy arm-chairs of my local coffee shop and knowing that the people who serve me actually care about me and don't treat me just like a customer; they treat me like a friend. I guess it is up to you whether or not you want to help out the struggling local buisnesses, or contribute to the fortune of people who already have way too much money and wish to squash the little guys, who are floundering, out of buisness. DOWN WITH WALMART!!

A local coffee shop, definately. Starbucks is so well over-priced that it's not even funny. On top of that you will find that at a local coffee shop that they likely know you, and in doing so, you will get better service. Finally in a local coffee shop everything is home made, which certainly tastes better than commercial food.

Well....I'm not familiar with any little coffee shops where I live now...so I guess I'd have to say Stabucks. That and I'm not much of a coffee drinker and Starbucks has some really great and delicious alternatives to coffee. However! The atmosphere of a small perhaps trendy or unique coffee shop would appeal to me more. I LOVED The Beehive in the South Side of Pittsburgh, PA. (my hometown)

I do prefer the local coffee shop. Usually much cheaper and better quality coffee. Starbucks is very commercial and so more focussed on selling loads, than making good quality coffee.

I prefer a local coffee shop because I don't drink coffee. The smaller, local coffee shops have a variety of drinks like decaf tea, which I drink. Most Starbucks I have been in don't sell decaf tea because most of their business is from selling coffee.

local coffee shop, affordable. and even dunkin donuts is a better preference to me. ive tried their coffee and i hate strabucks its nasty and the names are so hard to pronounce! and the poor local shops trying to make some money off of fresh home made foods while starbucks is rich and robotic workin behind the counter a mile a minute.

Starbucks, because our local coffee shop's coffee tastes like cardboard. It's a shame, because they have cool outdoor seating and you can bring your dog.
