Sometimes men and women have trouble saying that they are sorry. Some people don't like to admit that they are wrong. My first husband was a man who could say that he was sorry then turn around and do the same thing again. After awhile I hated for him to say that he was sorry.

I am a man who finds it hard to apologize right after I do something wrong. I need to think about it for a while and then apologize. My wife doesn't always accept it right away, but usually does in time. We try never to go to bed angry with one another, and we've been married 20 years. I don't know all the details but I don't like to be commanded to apologize. A person can be sorry for an action that hopefully doesn't define that person. I hope you will consider some form of counseling to help this situation.

It's a defense mechanism. Most guys don't/won't/can't say sorry or I was wrong because it gives the impression of being weak. Not to mention that most women, when the man apologizes will start to think that they are always right and will expect the guy to say sorry all the time.

I totally understand where you're coming from. My husband doesn't believe in the word sorry. He says it means squat to him. He said sorry to me only once in the 12 years we've been together and he started out by saying, "Even though sorry means nothing to me when it's said to me, but I do realize it means something to you, so I'm sorry, I was wrong." I was dumbfounded when that happened because any other time he just goes off in another room and later on comes out acting as if nothing happened. We have a daughter that is almost 2 and she actually said sorry to him once for being bad and I looked at him and said, "now, if that doesn't melt your heart and make you forgive her, then there is something wrong with you." He never said a word about it.
We can't change them, so we have to bite our tongue and accept the fact that they are too stubborn, even though deep down inside, they are truly sorry.

He has a mental block concerning this, or he isn't sorry at all.
Two books that you can pick up at the local library. Easy read, and it has some good ideas. "The Five Languages of Apology" and "The Five Love Languages" both by Gary Chapman.

sounds like self absorbtion and a gigantic ego... maybe this is an early sign of things to come.. if he can't do something like that for a rellationship... what's next?
so, think about it in reverse.. you're sorry for who you are when you apologize to him... I doubt that is the case, but that is the logic, and most likely the way youre perceived.. (at leasst subconsciously)
Good luck (not all us guys are that way)

I won't appologise for something if my wife is going to have attitude about it. Attitude evaporates my guilt.

Maybe because he didn't do anything wrong.
Just because a woman "thinks" it's wrong, doesn't mean it is!!!
