My grandaughter,16,wants her lip pierced.I of course don't want her to mark her face, but she wants it and I will allow her to get it done because she's a great child and really doesn't ask for much.I am wondering if her face will be damaged in any way by this procedure???

I had my lip pierced at 14 and 15. I have a tiny hole left form it very similar to what happens when your ear close up. You can't even see it 10+ years later. I think you should let her do it. She sounds like a great kid. Just make sure she takes care of it.

It usually is just a form of expression that kids use temporarily. My daughter was a great kid too and wanted one. I wouldn't let her and the minute she turned 18 she did it anyway. Within a couple months the new wore off and she had it out. There is no scar and she felt better after "showing" that she could do it.

Make her wait until she is 18. Her face may not be damaged but lip piercings aren't really for those who want to make a success out of life.

If i were you, i would let her wait a few more years because she is a young girl and you dont probaly want anything to happen to her face so when she gets older tell her that she can, but if she really wants it she can, i am the type who only likes ears piercings!!

Make her wait until she's 18, tell her that its because this way she can maike sure she still wants it by then. if she still wants it when she's 18, let her get it. maybe make it a birthday present or something.

Her lip piercing will inevitably chip her front teeth. She may want it--but sometimes its ok not to get what you want. She will regret it later in life, trust me!

it's not really that much different than piercing ears. you'll be able to see where the piercing is when the ring is out, but it shouldn't be too bad, as long as it's well taken care of.

lip piercings can become stretched out over time, get infected and saliva can leak out of them. i would recommend against letting her get her lip pierced until she's 18.
