I'm helping my boyfriend throw a party for his son's First Communion (I'm taking most of the planning on, by choice). The party is already at 75 - 80 people. He comes from a very strict, large italian family. Any suggestions to make this special. I got the idea for the centerpieces but favors and anything else to help make this beautiful will help, nevertheless get me in with the family.........lol

I imagine you have a cake?
How about some personalized Hershey candy bars? http://search.ebay.com/search/search.dll?sofocus=unknown&sbrftog=1&catref=C6&from=R10&satitle=communion+candy&sacat=-1%26catref%3DC6&sargn=-1%26saslc%3D2&sadis=200&fpos=51201&ftrt=1&ftrv=1&saprclo=&saprchi=&fsop=1%26fsoo%3D1&coaction=compare&copagenum=1&coentrypage=search, or you can also get these at other online stores.
Disposable cameras for guests are a good idea. We bought some for our daughters Sweet 16 from this store http://www.custom-disposable-cameras.com/?OVRAW=disposable%20cameras%20mask&OVKEY=disposable%20camera&OVMTC=advanced . The cost for hers were 7.00, and that included developing, pic cd, and online photo hosting.
We quite often give out perfume/cologne samples as favors. Maybe THIERRY MUGLER 'AMEN'. or Christian Dior samples. You can find these on Ebay.
Maybe confetti party poppers? Or larger confetti canons?
They make white lights for inside balloons, called celebrations lights. The add a little pizazz to balloons. I found them at Walmart by the Wilton cake decorating & craft area.
And this site has the cheapest balloons I have ever seen. http://www.specialbuysinc.com Maybe you could use congrats ones? I always think balloons say party! You could rent a helium tanks for decorating. Our grocery store rents their tank to us....all just ideas. Hope I helped out some!

Italians often have confetti at special occasions. I don't mean shredded paper, but jordan almonds. You could make little net bags tied with ribbon and put confetti in them. I know they use white for weddings, pink for a baby girl, blue for a baby boy. I guess you'd have to ask what color for first communion?
