On many people wearing hats for many years can thin hair out. Both my uncles have this problem seriously bad and male pattern baldness does not run in the family. They’ve worn both work helmets and regular baseball caps all the time since they were young.

I would do half and half if I were you. Hat sometimes and no hat other times. Take good care of your hair and you should have it a long time, as long as male pattern baldness does not run in your family. I was once told if your mother’s father was bald you had a 50% chance of going bald too. I am not sure of the accuracy of that statement, but that is my understanding.

If baldness runs in your family, 9 times of 10 you are going to go bald also okay!

No. And hair loss is a getic trait than can be linked to either your mom or your dad's genes.

Unless the hat is worn so tight as to cut off the circulation to the hair follicles.

Wearing hat for too long especially in hot and humid climate, however, can contribute to the excretion and accumulation of sebum and oil on your hair. Sebum is a waxy substance that is secreted by the sebaceous glands in your skin onto hair follicles. Overtime, sebum can react with cholesterol to create a hardened sebum plug that cuts off oxygen circulation to the hair follicles and cause it to fall out. Sebum plug can also accumulate dirt and become a breeding ground for bacteria and contributing to hair loss.

While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.
