The last time (what was then) England was successfully invaded was by the Normans in 1066. The last time any part of the United Kingdom was invaded and occupied was the Channel Islands during World War II. The last time a British dependency was invaded was the Falkland Islands in 1982. As you will know, on these last two incidents, the invaders were eventually driven out.
There have been various unsuccessful attempts at invading these islands (I mean Britain) at various times since 1066, but most of them have been unsuccessful such as the skirmish involving the Dutch at Chatham to which you are referring.

A raid on Chatham Dockyard by a Dutch fleet in 1667 led to a review of the defences of the South Coast and the Royal Dockyard at Chatham (known today as the Historic Dockyard.)
Amongst the recommendations eventually implemented in the 1750s was the building of defensive fortifications around the area known as the Great Lines (to be called in later times Fort Amherst). These fortifications were designed to protect the Dockyard from a landward attack and to protect the route to London (since an invader marching from the Kent Coast could not afford to leave such a stronghold to threaten its supply routes). The fort was built on the ditch and rampart principle as were many others of the period.
The major difference however is the underground tunnel system (built between 1776 and 1805) linking many areas of the fort which would provide protection in the event of a siege. At its peak the garrison had a complement of 125 guns (mainly 24 pounders)
A system of three defended gateways with ditches (at Chatham, Brompton & Gillingham) meant that the Dockyard and the other military barracks of the time could be isolated from the surrounding towns and countryside.

It was the Dutch. But that wasn't an invasion, it was a battle. An invasion is when a country goes into another with the intent of controlling that country. The Dutch didn't do that. They attacked the docks, and left. So if you want people to understand what you're trying to say, then use proper grammar. Also, the UK wasn't the UK until the 18th century, so if you mean England, you should've said that in the first place. Don't say people got something wrong if you can't word your question properly.

The French landed in eire presently after their revolution, yet they did not reason havoc, and the Union hadn't been formed on the time. Germany invaded and occupied the Channel Islands in the course of the second one international conflict. The Amis arrived previous due on in this conflict and seem not in any respect to have left. they might no longer have brought about havoc, yet they done a honest volume of rape and pillage.
