Lately ive been feeling really depressed. I dont like talking about it. And i know that people say oh its just a phase, but this doesnt seem to be getting any better. Ive resorted two times ,already, to self harming. Dont get me wrong that i dont regret it, but im feeling so down.. thought about suicide even. I put on a show for my friends so they dont see the real thing, And i dont feel like i can tell them.
I need help !?!
Does anyone have any solutions for me feeling happier with myself ??

First, you do need some professional help, as the urge to self-harm will not go away by itself. Therapy can also make you feel a lot better about yourself. Self-harm, just like addictions and eating disorders, is a mental disorder.

The public library has a section devoted to self-help books. There are books with positive affirmations, on how to boost your self-esteem, on how to cope with various situations, etc. You should get over there now.

You don't need to tell your friends anything--that's what therapists are for. Do call your doctor today.

I don't think I can make you 'happier' with yourself but I can offer an insight that might shed some light on what you're experiencing.

I call this 'feeling' that you are having...... seeing behind the veil.
What's behind the veil? The truth about life.

It's not a good thing or a bad thing.... it just is.
The truth is the truth and it's just what it is, no more no less.

Just because we don't LIKE something doesn't mean we can't ACCEPT it. Just because you accept something doesn't mean you like it.
It means that you permit the truth to be the truth without excuses, and you work with that to create real happiness that hangs around longer than it did with all the smoke and mirrors!

When you choose to ignore the truth it has a way of sapping the ability to lie to ignore the solution!

You are punishing yourself for something that you cannot change and you aren't willing to accept the truth.

First of all you need to put it into perspective......

** do I really WANT this or that? >see yourself with that and imagine how you would REALLY feel...
+++ you might learn that you're a minimalist and stuff just weighs you down!
and because you don't buy everything that you see...
(like you are forced to believe that if you buy this...happiness is guareenteed and if you don't have it, misery will be on you)
Capitalism at its finest. If you don't run with this herd then.....

You no longer belong to the 'herd' and therefor life just has no meaning! A well placed controlling lie.

ACCEPT THIS TRUTH and DEFEAT THE LIE.
The Truth is "materialism wont give lasting happiness"
The Lie is "if you aren't like the rest, you're an outcast"

Bill Gates is an outcast. He has the most money of anyone on the friggin planet!!!
In meetings with staff and the media... he wears blue jeans. Not 'stuffed' suits. This isn't because he doesn't like the material gains that he's made, he just refuses to allow it to destroy what makes him really happy...Power!

He is a capitalist that doesn't capitalize in his personal life, materialism doesn't make him happy...because he knows where REAL POWER is... CONTROL! If he were to be controlled BY what he is CONTROLLING, (INFORMATION) then he would be running with the HERD.
Being able to control the herd.... now that's satisfying!! for HIM.
He has stated that he wishes that he didn't have all that money! Why?? He's won the power game and now needs MORE just like the rest of us!

He's not fooled by LIES that so many people live in and are grade A miserable, instead he deals in the truth which has given him a distinct advantage.....

I didn't say that he TOLD the truth (I don't know) I'm saying he makes his decisions for his life based on what he KNOWS is the UNALTERABLE TRUTH.

Yeah, it's deep. There is where you will find the real meaning and meaningful...truth about life!

So, don't be afraid to accept what you see behind the veil....
just feel sorry for those that are so buried in the lies and daily deceptions that they can't! and accept the gift that you've been given and tolerate the burden that it carries with all the advantages.

If you hurt yourself... you are admitting that if you aren't like the herd... you may as well not be here. Refuse to be controlled by the LIES.
You've apparently learned that life isn't the glamour show that we were promised it would be if we just did this or that!
* get the best clothes and you'll be with the in crowd!
**only to find out that THEY are some of the most shallow, empty people! what a disappointment!

*drive this car, have this look, be with this popular person.... the list is endless... and you will be happier than these other people!
**only to find out you have all of that and you're STILL NOT HAPPY!!! Why??

There is always SOMETHING missing! What is it???

This is the Human Condition that we all live under. Those that are more susceptible to UNDERSTANDING (not to be confused with intelligence). Meaning it's easier for you to clear the lies away and see the truth, and not be as easily misled by the things that are only superficial!

Welcome to reality.

Miranda, you have to recognize that you are something special. No one can replace you. you also need to understand that you are not alone in your feelings. If you are hiding yours concerns from your friends, some of them are hiding from you. This time of year is very tiring to the brain and spirit. That is why the people of old celebrated spring. They looked at it as a rebirth. As if they had been close to death, and now they have a chance to live. There is an old saying, "Count your Blessings". If you don't consider what is good about your life, then the negative thoughts and fears will take over. You might try thinking of the good things that have happened in the last year. Look around at others as you do this. Have you had broken bones, lost an eye, contracted aids, or have cancer? Many people deal with these negative factors and still find ways to count their blessings. We only get one chance at life. Give it your best shot! Please, for your sake!

If you’re a teen, remember that the teen years are the absolute worst time of your life. I'm surprised any of us survive it. You are struggling with so much stress, pressures, changes... Your body and mind are trying to cope but ... it's hard. The brain is a very complicated and delicate thing. It can get messed up and be unable to produce any or enough serotonin. This is called a chemical imbalance which is easily treated, very common and nothing to be ashamed of. It can cause depression, anxiety, panic, obsession, self harm/self hatred, suicidal thoughts, eating disorders, sleeping problems, aggression/rage, anger, phobias, fears, helplessness/hopelessness, hypochondria, ADHD, paranoia, OCD, headaches, lack of interest in things, lack of motivation/ focus and much more. Go to a dr. (not a therapist) and ask for anti-depressants. Zoloft/Sertraline is a good one. With antidepressants, you will be much better, happier, calmer, confident, safer and feel normal. What a difference it makes!

DUDE,

in this question , no one has the answer but you.....Reach deep inside of you and let go everything you have , and start to keep moving, because life doesn't stop when you are down , dont let this feeling reach your soul , because everyone of us deserve to smile and be happy around the world.......

The solution is in you , do new stuff, even if you feel depress, try to be in more social events that you like and you know you will not feel uncomfortable

I've suffered from depression for many years of my life and I still do today. I would suggest going to a therapist and talking about your feelings. Anti-depressants have been extremely helpful. If you don't like the idea of medication, try and understand that you won't have to be on them for the rest of your life, and that they will help you.
Studies have also shown that exercise for 30 minutes each day is very effective in fighting depression.

You know people always say there is a solution to these feelings but there isn't. Our personalities are so complex that one solution cannot solve our problems. I'm not going to impose my ideas on you but i find solace in slowing down my thinking process and self-analyzing myself, sometimes it helps and sometimes i get more depressed but at least i know who i am. Screw the world and external pressures, appreciate yourself.

You need to seek professional help as soon as possible, not seek help from strangers on the internet. There could be many causes for your depression, some may be physical. You can seek the love and support of friends and family, but they are not qualified to treat and diagnose you. Please - do not hurt yourself. Get help NOW, before it's too late.
