i own a 2000 Chrysler Concorde LXi, 3.2L V6 engine, with approximately 82,000-mi. recently the transmission has been slipping when accelerating from dead stop, i cannot open the throttle but only a little before it starts failing, and also when i need to reverse, the tachometer reaches much higher revolutions than previously observed. once i have finally reached speeds of 45 plus will the tachometer show normal rpms at normal speeds, usually when the car meets 3rd or 4th/highest gear. my brother and i completed the routine transmission filter change and fluid flush, however the problem persists. Next, with the use of a OBD II device, the resulting codes displayed the news of faulty/improper gear ratios for 1st, 2nd and Reverse gears. i believe i need to replace the electronic sensors on the transmission. i am in need of professional or skilled help to resolve my auto's dilemma before she leaves me stranded on some interstate in a winter blizzard. thank you.

What you are experiencing is quite typical for chrysler A604 (now they call it 42LE but it's essentially the same unit) transmission. They've been trying to fix it since its introduction in 1986...
The seals in clutch drums are leaking, and the unit needs to be overhauled. The long you drive it like that - the greater the chance of hard part(s) damage, and the higher eventual cost of repair is.

my guess...is that your car has the 2.7L V6 engine. chrysler used this engine in your concorde, the sebring, the LHS, 300M, and the dodge intrepid and dodge stratus, chrysler sebring in any case chryslers cars made between 1998 and 2002 have a well known sludge build up problem with this engine (poorly designed), even cars that were well maintainted with full synthetic oils developed this problem chrysler blamed the owners for not maintaining the cars, when most in fact did. the sludge build up becomes so bad that the only way to fiz the issue was to tear the engine down and clean it, or just replace it with a new crummy 2.7 V6. chrysler seems to have fixed the problem now starting from 2002 on (base chrysler 300s have 2.7s and are very reliable.) but this is my guess, take a look at the engine and check for this infamous sludge this is only my theory because this problem is so common. if it is the case, you can conctact chrysler about itand see what they can do for you if anything you can also buy a new motor and have the old one replaced or you can buy a brand new chrysler 300 or something like that. (i have a soft spot for chyrsler cars but these 2.7 motors suck) or if you love concordes that much buy a newer one (2003 or 2004 to avoid motor issues)

call your dealler man.
But one word of caution. If it is the tracsmittion slipping and you continue to drive it. eventually you will ruin the transmission completely. Slipping cuase huge heat build up. So fix it or park it unless you want to buy a new tranny...also normally reverse is where you notice slipping first, this is becuase most vehicle use 2nd gears in reverse higher ration puts nmore pressure on cluches, and cluches are most commonly the cuase of slippage. Could have a bad torque convertor as well. Oil black or nice and red?

your transmission problems are probably due to insufficient hydraulic fluid pressure,,this could be from pump wear,,which would cause the clutches to waer out.
It also takes hydraulic pressure to keep the clutches engaged,,so again,,the problem would be the main pump inside the transmission.
you need a transmission shop to put the gauges on your fluid ports,,this will tell them where the problem origionates.
I'm sorry to say,,it's going to be an expensive repair.

Your tranny shouldnt be burnt up with only 82,000,but maybe when you changed the fluid did it look burnt or have a bad smell? If not then take it to a qualified transmission shop and have it scanned!

Well do this before you do anything else. Pull out the dip stick and smell it. Does it smell burned? Is the color brown and is it look red anymore.
The normal color is a red or pink. If it smells burned it is time for a new trans.
