I think they want to make sure that the DNA they take from the baby is really Anna's baby. With all the money and everything at stake who knows what people could pull.

They want the mothers DNA so that they cannot be fooled into getting negative father results from them testing a swapped baby. They could take any child that age test them for the fathers DNA and say sorry your not the father. Well of course its going to its not the correct child. Making sure to begin with that the child is the correct child being tested with the mothers DNA being confirmed before testing for the fathers.

If they do the DNA test they will have to check either Anna Nicoles blood samples or Annas' mothers' blood they will have the same identical markers........They will also have to test each male to find correct markers of the father. In other words there will be 2 tests done. The Mother is always done to prove maternal ancestry. Ther is no way out of proof if they do the test. Unless someone messes with it.

Stern has a niece the exact same age. They want to make sure when they test the baby..they are testing the correct child. They will make sure the dna from the baby does determine that anna is the mother of that child to confirm it is infact the same baby she gave birth too. Its required to make sure that if the baby is handed over to the correct father..he is given the correct child.

They don't need Anna's DNA..this is all a stall tatic, all they need is the baby and the would be father--But then that would be too easy and people might have to actually start reporting real news. Put the woman to rest already!!

I couldn't figure that out at first either- but there is (potentially) so much money involved that they want to be certain no baby swapping goes on, and make sure they are dealing with the correct infant from the start. Poor thing- they should award her to someone removed entirely from the whole mess!

I heard that in these cases they want to be sure of the mother's identity as well, so 15 years down the line, someone comes forward and says,"No, I'M Anna Nichol's daughter, we were switched at the hopital"
As crazy as it sounds, this stuff happens

they have already taken it from the baby and they relate the sequences on the rRNA to the possible fathers and see who is the father.
