If you have sky then you can apply for free broadband (but you need a BT line!). Satelite is slow, unreliable and expensive - avoid. Cable (now called Virgin Media) is a good option if you live in an area that has it. There are some very cheap 'phone line and DSL' packages, e.g. Carphone Warehouse (there are many others) - see the link below for a comparison

If you go to cnet, they have a topic on how to get internet using your phone as a modem. Now my Sprint PPC 6700, I use as a modem plugged into a usb cable from phone to computer. NO PHONE LINE connected and it is faster than the dial up modem and broadband by ATT. But speeds differ on what you want to pay.
Here is the article on this, but your phone must have bluetooth capabilities. I might try this out. Now Sprint on one of their phone updates disenable this feature citing security reasons. Which makes sense. But makes more sense, cuz if I tried to use this, It would not work on my cell phone. I pay $40 for the data plan. I plan to try this and see if I save any money. I will have to drop the data plan afterwords, then use the computer for about 10 minutes and find if I get charged for it or not. I do not know now. This is new for me. But try it though. BOOKMARK these sites.

So next time you buy a phone you will make sure it is bluetooth and internet capable.

No dont look for an ISP with satelite link up because you stll need a phone line to make it work.
Go to your local friendly mobile phone shop and ask for a data card. Then you can internet from the air through the 3g network.
Or you could get a wireless (wifi) card and if your lucky you can steal your neighbours internet.

If your using a laptop T-Mobile do a PCMCIA Card wireless internet set up for £29.99 a month that can be used anywhere in the country!
It connects to the net in about 6 different ways but the most popular (UMTS) is as quick as broadband!
I'm using it now!

Your best bet is going to be to get broadband over your phone line. It will be worth the investment compared to a dial-up connection. There are a lot of good packages around, ISPReview offers some great information to get the best prices.
Other options: Satellite (expensive), 3G (Poor coverage), GPRS (Better coverage but lower speeds).
