Many people don't realize it's not just your skin tone that dictates how tan you can get, it's the way your skin reacts to the sun. I've had friends that were darker skinned than me and they didn't tan easily at all. Honestly, it sounds like your skin just doesn't tan very well. Your skin type does better with a little color rather than a nut brown tan.
There are some skin types that hardly retain any color as well. I'm light-complected but I have strong olive undertones and can become very brown in a short period of time. Problem is, I cannot retain it for very long. My tan never seems to "penetrate" the skin so I lose it right away. And I didn't want any more sun damage. Your excessive tanning is going to affect your skin and the damage will start to show in your late 20's. It's very difficult to minimize it, let alone get rid of it, once you've got it.
Maybe you could focus on a lighter tan. Sunless tanners have come a long, long way. I prefer them, especially the graduals, and with a little experimenting and patience, I think you'll be happy with the results.

All those things you're putting on your skin are horrible for your skin. Stop doing it.
If you have very fair skin, you simply may not naturally be able to produce enough melonin to tan. There's not a thing you can do to change that. I'd suggest getting a Mystic Tan (spray on) or using a tanning LOTION with a bronzer...not oil...in a tanning bed and going very slow. Tanning oils are usually mineral based as is baby oil. Mineral oil is NOT good for your skin and can actually deplete your tan. Cooking oil isn't as bad for your skin, but you shouldn't be using it outside or in a tanning booth.
Try using Speed of Light by Designer Skin...you can get it at a tanning salon.

if you can't tan with as much as you're tanning then you better stay away from the sun because that means you have a higher chance of getting skin cancer. your best solution would be mystic tanning or spray on tans. they really do work and give a great color. the sally hansen spray one gives you this great golden color. if you choose to still tan, still use the sunless tanners and also tan.

Wow, too much tanning thats really bad for your skin. I suggest you use self tanning lotion because all this tanning is gonna cause skin cancer. And you may just be very fair like me. I dont know. But thats defiantley to much tanning!

you could try sumin like coppertone.
if youre fair skinned, it means you don't have much melanin. htat means you won't really tan, just get red and sunburnt, and thats not good.....skin cancer.
i dont understand why you want a tan. im tanned from outdoor activity, but here in thailand ppl want to be fair-skinned. fair skin is actually pretty.no need 2 b tanned.

There are Tanning supplement pills that you can get a your local GNC or a store similar to it that sells vitamins. You take one right before you get into the tanning bed. These pills are amazing. You won't believe how dark you'll get!!
Good Luck!

If i were you i would do the self tanner because i think if the sun isn't working a self tanner will. try L'oreal sublime broze medium- deep shade lotion! it works really well. just make sure to rub well..Good luck, don't spend too much time in the sun, it really isn't good for you. tans are too overrated

Make sure your skin isn't dry. Keep your body moisterized and you'll take in the sunlight easier. You'll also look more tan when moisterized.
