several years ago there was a group/song on mtv that featured a guy with a top hat on, i think...he was singing and walking toward the camera like on a treadmill...he kept walking in place and the walls moved past him. anyone recall it...song name? group?

The artist you are thinking of is Jamiroquai. I think that it was called Vitual Insanity! I really like that song.

That might be The Smashing Pumpkins. I think they had a video similar to that.
