The best solution to your problem of getting called depends on who's doing the calling.

If the caller is a solicitor, like a telemarketer, then tell them firmly that you want to be taken off their calling list and they are never to call you again. There are federal laws protecting you from unsolicited calls. If they continue to call you anyway, let them know your going to contact the Better Business Bureau and the Federal Trade Commission, then send those agencies and e-mail letting them know whose harrassing you. As an ultimate resort you can always sue them for harrassment.

As to bill collectors, if you have an outstanding debt then they are well withing their rights to contact you to try and settle your debt. But there are restrictions. Typically, most states limit the number of calls they can make to three a day and they have to be before 7-9pm(varies by state). The obvious solution is to pay your debt, but that's not always immediately do-able. If you have caller ID, then simply don't answer the phone when they call. As to whether you should pretend to be someone else, this is always risky. For starters, if they ever catch on that your pretending to be someone else, it could motivate them to speed up their actions which could mean a lawsuit. When they sue you they may also seek additional damages pertaining to fraud and breach of good faith in regards to your contract. An additional point to consider, pretending to be someone else (even your daughter) is a form of identity theft and such an action could be illegal in your state. If this is the case, the bill collector could take measures to have criminal charges brought against you in an attempt to force you work with them.

As to how you ultimately decide to handle your situation is up to you, but always be aware that there are risks associated with every action.

Good Luck

Me and my husband do that all the time. Sometimes I put my 3 yr old on the phone and let her sing her abc's and whatever other annoying new song she has just learned. I think the best was when my husband acted like he was yelling at his "wife" He put on a redneck accent and started yelling "How'd you get outta that basement. Do I need to beat ya again. Soryy I gotta go my wife just escaped" LOL

Yeah or I put on some fake a*ss accent like, "She no in casa" "She kidnapped and taken to Mexico!!" Telling them that I am deceased as always worked, too. They get all apologetic and they're like, " Oh, I'm so sorry for your loss." They think that I am my sister. Ha ha!! Suckers!!

Yes. I tell them I am the Colombian nanny and they will have to call back later.
Then I curse at them in broken English.

I pay my bills on time.

Also, If I were the bill collector and you did that, I would call social services.
