as we all know planes and helicopters can fly so therefore shouldnt it be called the law of flight?

my boyfriend actually lays awake at night contemplating the meaning of the universe i think he will crack it if i can get him some answers to the questions that plague his ( and my) nights sleep! please help this is the only chance i have to help him sleep well and rest easy withy no bothersome questions! he would also like answers to the following!

do narcolepts (sleeping disorder where people fall asleep anywhere and at any time) ever have a bad nights sleep?

why do you have to press start to turn of a computer on a windows menu?

If air travel is so safe why do you leave from a terminal?

please answer as you can appreciate this has definately come from they brain of a man as all that keeps a woman awake is usually the late episode on a wednesday of desperate housewives!

It is a theory of flight, because it has not been proved. Last year some scientist said that they think the theory is wrong, and aerodynamic work by accident, plus the bumble bee proves that the thoery does not work. According to aerodynamics and power to weight ratio, the bee cannot fly.

Narcolepts always have a bad nights sleep, i.e. they do not actually rest when "sleeping", it isn't full beta-sleep, still alpha.

Computers, you have to "start" the shutdown procedure. Even the shutdown is a program, and all programs need starting in order to run.

Terminal (funny - all I can say, is that it is probably more to do with a "terminus")

Ask him why most air crashes involve planes with a higher than usual number of "no-shows", i.e. people simply not boarding even though they have tickets?

SORRY about that Kellythered, I could add more but don't want to make your sleeping worse

1. Theory of Flight is actually and old term used in the early days of aviation when people just slapped wings on something and hoped for the best.

Technically there's more to "flight" than just getting off the ground. You have to be able to control the plane while in the air.

Understanding the flight dynamics is a big deal, that's why new planes have test flights.

Also, planes fly differently at low speeds than at higher speeds. Different equations come into play when you're subsonic, trans-sonic and supersonic.

Most of the equations that describe flight based are based upon simplified (reduced) equations... in other words approximations.

Also, Theory does not mean a guess in the science community.

Based upon the Scientific Method:
A hypothesis - a proposal on why something is happening.

Theory refers to the equations and models that predict the event and is often based upon experimentation and some type of quantifyable observation (and repeatable).

2. Narcolepts - the reason most narcolepts fall asleep is that they had bad nights and not able to sleep through the night.

3. Press start to turn off your computer... Technically when you shut down your computer... you are "starting" a program that turns off your program.

4. Terminal refers to a point forming the limit or boundary...

More to think about -
If con is the opposite of pro, then is congress the opposite of progress?

If you dropped a feather from the top of a building and a bowling ball at the same time, which would hit the ground first.

How will die in the last Harry Potter book?
Will Hermoine marry Harry or Ron?

Why are french fries called french fries while in France they're called pomme frites?

Airplane seat prices... Why is it that the person in front of you may have paid $100 more or less than you... even if you purchased on the same day and still sitting in the same class.

A theory can be defined as the principle behind a science. So yes, loosely, it's a theory. But I know what you mean.
As to the start shutdown paradox, Microsoft have amended that in their latest Vista OS, using just the windows icon.

BTW - another answerer asked 'which would land first, a feather or a bowling ball. Its the bowling ball, but only because the feather has greater drag than the ball due to it's shape. If it was a ping pong ball and a bowling ball, they'd land at the same time because gravity's pull is the same for both of them - without the drag factor of a feather.

Because flight is still a theory - we may have surpassed the flying bit in one way but the next flight theory is light speed flight! So it is still theory!

No

Because Bill Gates screwed up!

Because that is where the plane switches off and terminates - when you get on it becomes a boarding gate!

Ask him this one - when it rains we say it is raining - when it gathers on the ground we call it a puddle - WHY? Why when we look up do we see clouds - but at ground level we call it fog! WHY?
