First of all, I would like to say that Randy Johnson is one of my favorite pitchers. It really sucks that Johnson couldn't do well as a Yankee. That came as a shock to me. He was one of the most intimidating pitchers in history and a strikeout machine that seeing him strikeout more than 300 batters isn't unheard of. However, I feel that the Yankees made the right decision in trading Randy Johnson. He is clearly not the same pitcher he used to be. Hopefully the prospects that the Yankees got in return, will pay off. So, as much as I wished to see him do well in Yankee pinstripes, he couldn't cut it, and he had to go.

The Yankees should never have acquired Johnson to begin with. He very openly said (numerous times) that he not only did not want to pitch in New York but that he wanted to remain in Arizona to finish his career.
The Yankees saw what Curt Schilling did for the Red Sox in 2004 and thought that by bringing Johnson in that the scales would be tipped in their favor- but the move bit them on the back side. They essentially thought that Johnson would do for them what Schilling did for Boston.

The one that made out like a bandit here was Johnson himself because he was paid millions to waive his no trade clause only two years later to find himself "home again" in Arizona.

Yes, yes, yes, a thousand times yes. He didn't have the makeup for New York and he's going to be 44 this September. And he wanted like 15 mil a season. For what he did in New York? No way. Good riddance. He hurt that Yankees in Seattle and Arizona and hurt them when he was with them.

Yes, he has very little left. His back has been bothering him for a long time now and he doesn't have that 97 MPH fastball anymore. He is sitting on 280 career wins. As soon as he reaches 300 he will retire. It will take him two more seasons to get there. The Yankees don't have time for personal goals, they want to win another word series this year.....and they will.

Yes it was,Listen i'm not gonna bash Randy he really gave it his all,he came out every day with a bum back and pitched his butt off,and never complained. On the other hand i heard he was a real grumpy pain in the a-s,He wasn't really liked, and he really didn't like NY,So it was best we got rid of him,Cashman said he is no longer gonna keep players in ny who are unhappy,Plus we got two younger arms for him,and we got our Andy back,I also heard Rodger Clemens said he would never pitch in Ny if Johnson was there,So everyone made out good on this deal!!

Yes it was. It got rid of salary which means less payed to luxury tax, picked up some good prospects, and their rotation should be deep enough that he isn't needed. He proved in the World Series that he can pitch in clutch situations but he never seemed to be a fit in New York. When he first arrived his first move was to attack a cameraman. Not a good first impression.

Yes. He never really fit into the Yankees. He gave it his best but it never seemed like it was enough.
The Yanks got some good young pitchers for him that could help us in the years to come.k

confident, if the commerce might wade via perhaps Montero, 2 different potentialities and a few money for Jiminez that would desire to be super. Cashman is defiantly finding for a commencing pitcher, somewhat with Colon pitching like **** and doubtless occurring the DL.
