how many of you have had rh- daughters or rh- sons? Something, I don't know what, is really nagging me about this. could you just answer with first child son neg/pos, second child daughter neg/pos etc.. and like I wrote, in the order you gave birth? I know it's really really personal but I am really at odds with getting pregnant again and I already have a son and I guess I'm looking for some kind of anecdotal evidence being as our blood type is so rare.

thanks for the great responses. the reason I ask is my mom is neg and she got rho gam only once. I read before that you have to continue getting it and was confused. I have 5 brothers and I am the only daughter, so I am not sure what all has changed with the Rho Gam injection such that it is now necessary with every subsequent pregnancy. My bro, her first was born in 1968.

First child: daughter: B positive (rec'd. Rhogam after giving birth)
Second child: son AB negative

All 3 are adults now and parents as well. Don't know my grandchildren's blood types yet.

I am pregnant right now and I am RH-. So I don't know yet if my baby is or not. I have O- blood type. My mother is RH- and my older sister is RH-.
In my book the Essential Guide to Pregnancy and Birth it states that only 15% of the population is RH-

Sorry to break it to you, yet he's no longer your daddy. There are 3 alleles for blood kind and each and each individual has 2 of them. A+B are co-dominant mutually as O is recessive. somebody with AB bloodtype has an A + B allele. somebody with an O bloodtype can in easy terms have O + O the conceivable combos you get whilst crossing those 2 are 50% A+O( A bloodtype) and 50% B+O (B bloodtype). in the experience that your mom has kind O blood (OO) the only suits that could provide you kind O are A (AO), B (BO) and O (OO). no longer AB.

Both my husband and I are O-, so our son and unborn daughter are both O-. By the way, both my parents are as well as my brother and sister.
