I was taught to never judge a book by its cover, but do you think how a person is in life, is reflected on their face? I have met many great people in life, and many not so great. It seems that the ones that are just unhappy reflects on their face and gives them a rather haggard look. Do you agree with this? It seems to make sense though that how a person lives, is shown on their face. thanks

Thanks for all the input, I am glad I am not alone. It never fails that when I see a person who truly looks miserable based on their face, they are always what I thought, it has never happened when I have met somebody who looked truly miserable, but was happy, never!!

Yes; I think you can judge a book by its cover. At least most of the time. You can tell an a**hole by looking at their face; they look angry all the time. You can tell when women are stuck up by looking at their face. Look at the prison population. You can totally tell that they are criminals just by looking at them. You may not be able to read everyone but I think this is true 90% of the time......good question.

Absolutely not! Some of the worst rapists and serial killers have looked just delightful--and seemed to have the best of manners.

On the other hand, there was a man in Vegas who played mega bucks every day. He was dirty, and didn't smell real great. The staff hated it when he came in. It turned out that he was a millionaire--just eccentric. He never hurt a fly.

No one is happy or unhappy all of the time. That "haggardly" look may be due to illness, having led a hard life, too much sun, too much alcohol and tobacco, too much of anything.

Unfortunately for society, the way a person's face looks has nothing to do with what kind of person they are.

I used to think I was a good judge of people but people are extremely complex aren't they - they sometimes don't even know themselves very well, and people change over time as well so I would think that their face can give you an indication of what's going on with them, some moreso than others, but you could get caught out as well. Think of con people and others who just peddle sh*t, they're full of it and some can look like butter wouldn't melt!

It gives me comfort to think that nasty people will end up looking nasty on the outside as well but with plastic surgery becoming even more accessible and socially accepted, you could even cheat nature with some well placed lipo and a bit of skin pulling!

yes...i really believe so.
i have seen it very much in practically every person i know

for example my ex-bf was always pretty ugly. but then when i found out he was nothing but scum i knew there was a reason he was ugly and i saw his ugliness alot better.
that main guy from All-American Rejects. hes not too good-looking. i found out he was a jerk and he really doesnt look good now
the guy i have deep feelings for now...before i actually met him and had just seen like photos he was a good amount of hot but now after i have met him i realize he is a sweet guy! and now i see him hotter and cuter than ever.
my one guy friend is not goodlooking really..but hes ok. even though hes rough around the edges deep down hes a nice guy.

i guess its not easily explainable..because its kinda like a feeling. but i think it kinda has to do with perception. the person will remain ugly if they are jerks or have horrible personalities even if you dont know they are. but when you finally know that they are for sure the ugliness is magnified. you see them for how they really are on their face. its the same thing with people with amazing personalities..theyre gonna look stunning but when you are aware of their personality its magnified through their face.

the person's looks hasnt changed you are just more aware of their outstandingly bad/good look. or if theyre average..theyll always be average i suppose.
but its apparent that its easier to tell if they are one extreme or the other.

i dont know about happiness/unhappiness but i guess its kind of the same thing.

you are definitely on the right track!

People who knew Baby Face Nelson (a killer), Pretty Boy Floyd, (bank robber, and killer), Jeffery Dalhmer ( killer-cannibal), John Wayne Gacey, (killer) would disagree with you. You are kinda right though. There are some people that portray their lives through their faces, but the generalizing of your question, makes your reasoning incorrect.

Most of the time you can tell a persons dosha by looking at them and that will give you a good idea about how they behave under stress.

I agree with you. I'm starting to get 'crows feet' around my eye area. That's from smiling a lot. But I recognized this in my sister, she has wrinkles around her mouth area, from frowning so much and she is just that....a frowner.

Awesome question.

You can tell how a person is by looking at their eyes. Judging by their mouth can be deceiving.
