For the best range of sound for a bass, how many strings should it have ? for a band ?

i wanna know because i will probally be in a band and i wanna know the best # amount of strings for it to have.

A four stringer can keep up with most genres if the player is good enough. If you're playing black, death, or extreme speed metal, go with a five or six stringer.

Well, that's a pretty general question. It all depends on the style of the music... however, for the best Low-High range, the more strings you have, the bigger your range will be... typically. I have a 4 string, and it works just fine... played in lots of bands without trouble.
If you are just learning, I would go with a 4 string or 5 string... the less strings, the less complicated.. lol... but that's just the advice of a musician who's been at it for 15 years now.

MQ: usual i think of you have composed an extremely stable checklist of the two technically experienced and unique memorable bass gamers. i'm a guitar participant yet I deffinitely get exhilaration from bass gamers for what they upload to a metallic band and for his or her potential (**** i won't be in a position to play bass lol). MQ2: Hmm That checklist is quite sturdy yet i think of two human beings i'd definitely evaluate including would be Alex Webster and Jeff Hughell. i'd probable replace Myung with a minimum of one among those 2 via fact easily i'm no longer a Dream Theater fan. they do no longer look to be my form of track.

I guess 5 would be the short answer.. But if you have two guitar players, you probably would never need the high string.
