Nando - That is a good point about NJ. Being a long time Dev's fan I have seen enough of this team to say that they may be the best Devils' team ever. They are showing that they have come back ability and they are no longer playing that old trapping style of hockey. When they get a lead they still attack. Just look at the stat seats.

The Ducks have been struggling as of late. They were shutout the last 2 games and are in the midst of a 3 game losing streak, lost 4 of their last 5 and 8 of their last 11 games. Not a time in the season to be slumping. They may make it to the conference finals, but I think they may fall short.

As far as Detroit. They look great this year as well. It would be a nice treat to see the old '95 Stanley Cup finals revisted. NJ was underestimated then and they may be this year as well.

NJ wins in 6.

Hey Alphabet Stew - neither Nashville nor Detroit has truly proven themselves because they play 24 games against weak teams in their division, plus get 4 each against Los Angeles. That is 28 games where they play opposition that is no where near playoff caliber. Detroit lost to Buffalo early in the season, and Buffalo may actually get a key piece of the team back just in time for the playoffs. Detroit should be glad that Connelly couldn't play against them as he would have helped run that up. WHats even sadder is the Sabres were distracted that night because we were in the aftermath of the October 12th storm that pretty much paralyzed the Buffalo area. The Pacific Division has 3 very strong teams in it, but I like a healthy Anaheim over everyone in the league, except possibly the Sabres, and whoever wins that series will know it was a tough one to win.

My guess would be a team coming out of the West. Although the Devils look good, they aren't as battled-tested as the Western Conference teams that face superior teams year around, and I'm guessing that'll show in the Stanley Cup Finals.

I like Anaheim on this one.

Anyone who gets in the finals. the New NHL is pretty unpredictable.

However, there are a few front runners. Those are buffalo, The Pens (yes, really) Nashville (surprise!) and Anaheim. Atlanta also stands a chance. I wouldn't say no to NJ either. Carolina if they keep up their play level for the rest of the season.

The San Jose Sharks. They have the best starting five in the NHL. There power play is pretty good too.
