unsure about the actual question, but for the person askin why youd want AWD (you said 4x4, which isnt the same as AWD) on a racetrack: Why wouldnt you? you have 4 wheels gripping instead of 2, you can do all kindsa stuff with the stability and traction control you cant do on 2wd cars, they tend to be easier to drive on a track, etc etc. The only downside to AWD is the added weight.

why would you want 4x4 on the track? unless maybe they are moving to offroad lemans. that would be something to watch ;-)
