Well Mr Sandstorm there is no respect anymore --

I always say "sir", especially if I don't know the man... but then again, I'm prior military... I guess old habits die hard...

When addressing older men that I know well (like co-workers), I tend to put "mr." in front of their first name... I might say, "Hello, Mr. John" when I greet you. But this comes from my upbringing-- something I had to do when I was young. I also do this for older women ("mrs." or "ms."). In response to a yes or no question, I say "yes sir" or "no ma'am"...

If I am older than you, I will not use a title unless you are like a religious leader (in which case I will call you father, pastor, etc) or a doctor.

Best Wishes...
T.

Ok first, when men start doing the same thing than maybe you'll get the response you want. But the only men that I address as "Sir" are my higher ranking officers in the military and that's only because I have to. Otherwise, I wouldn't do it...

For the same reason because of which many men do not address women as "ma'am", or "miss", or "mrs.", I find this very disrespectful...
