Some of the women I work with have no life, but seeem to want to make others lives a misery - ok they are due to retire soon, but why do they detest change and young (at heart) people? I just pretend I am thick and it works!!!

Then on their last day you can reveal yourself to them ... you minx you. Wouldn't I love to be a fly on the wall for that .... !!!!

Be all-business with them. It doesn't sound like you would pursue a social relationship with these people outside of work--why do we feel like we have to just because we work together. Bring the focus of the conversation back to the work at hand with questions like "How's the .... coming?" or "Do you know if .... is ready yet?" Everyone hates talking about work, so the more you bring it up with these people, the less they will talk to you....

Yea, say you are having an affair with the boss and say you are helping him with the appraisal process and the most important category is who doesn't spread office gossip.

Whenever I am presented with a dilema at work that I simply think is bs and do not want to deal with I speak thu,
"Sometimes when I breathe thru my nose it smells funny"

The quickest way to shut up a blabbering, meddlesome person is to remain silent. If you are quiet, then they will turn from you to someone else who can feed them what they want.

its a good idea to do people think my mum is thick cos she acts it and then when they try and take advantage she shows them she aint thick after all
