I have a cingular cell phone since the age of 16 im 21 now. My stepdad had got it for my birthday (which is still in his nam never changed to mine) and recently my phone was turned of because he forgot to pay his bill should i have mine disconnected and get another account in my name? If so how much would it cost me?

I don't think you need to get it disconnected. The cell phone company already did that. However if you think your step dad might try to get the bill paid and the phone reactivated you might want to talk to him before doing anything.

Since the bill was never in your name you should have no problems getting a cell phone of your own - especially if you have an established credit history. Go with whatever company in your area you feel has the best coverage and the best rates. Look for promotions that give you a new phone for free or low cost when you sign up. The only problem that you might have is if you wanted to keep your old phone number. You'd have to ask the cell phone company if it were possible. Good luck.

Well you do not have to worry about yours being disconnected as it already is. I would get one in my name. As far as cost, it depends on your credit rating. some require as much as a $500 deposit that you get back after 2 years of you pay your bill on time every month for 24 months. It doesn't hurt ot inquire tho and then you know! Good Luck!
