I'd prefer not to use weedkiller, unless it's absolutely necessary

You will need weed killer - that stuff is a bugger to kill off - cut it back to one inch above ground level and pour weedkiller into the shoots.

THe dreaded Japanese knotweed dont know how much you have but as you are probally aware it is a hollow growth cut the top to allow you to poor a solution of bleach and water and jeyes fluid down the stem this will enter the root system immediately and it will keel over shortly then dig it up and burn it. good luck dont plant the ground for a month

You know how to pick them dont you??!!!This plant is an absolute beast,my professional dealings with this have been interesting to say the least.There is only a handful of effective chemicals to handle this plant & most if not all are only available to trained ppl.They are not 100%.The best way to deal with this is to starve it of light, ie keep cutting it.Dont give it an inch,cut at ground level as soon as it sticks up shoots.It may take 4-5 years+ to get rid of!!All plants need light to survive & this is the only method that seems to work on this one.Hope this is helpful

It has to be dug out with the roots, and even then you need to put weedkiller down where the roots were. Only one bit of root left in the ground is enough for it to grow back.

set FIRE to it,dont inhale dust from it,contact defra if you have a lot of it,its a banned dangerous weed in the uk.

It is a notifiable weed. you should contact you local council. You can be prosecuted for not doing so.
