From Brighton? Are you serious?!!! Don't know if National Express stop anywhere near there - I do know they run from Mitcham to Brighton. But the sensible way is train to East Croydon then Tram from outside station to Ampere Way stop (note that Ikea is NOT at East Croydon).
By ordinary buses it would take you most of the day, involve numerous changes and cost a lot more than the train.

David F, Brighton is not in the dark ages, wedo have a national express stop in poole valley. I must agree to go by bus would be foolish, get the train to east croydon an awayday return is about £15.

Don't even try - you'll buy loads and have no way to get it home!

Better off finding out if any bus/coach companies do shopping trips to Lakeside - Thurrock - the Ikea there is nicer as well!

Don't do it! Go for the train if you must, Thurock may be the best bet. Don't forget that there is a limit to the ammount of baggage you can carry by bus so you wouldn't be able to buy much when you got there.
