Hey three days to answer and I was there today it was packed! Lots of fireworks dragon parade and the streets were packed with people. China town manchester is great any time but new year is fantastic have been loads over the years.

Manchester i don't know , but here in Suffolk several pub places are having a bar-B- Q (under cover if its wet ) of roast pig , with stir fry on the side plus a party in the evening (hong hee fat choy ) that's Chinese for happy new year

All starts at 12 noon at the town hall, parade into china town, fireworks, dancing, martial arts display sounds a good day.
Mind u i go every year and enjoy it.
