I studied abroad for the experience of living and being in another culture. I did party a lot; however, I partied a lot before I left home. I learned more in the year abroad than I did in my classes at home because I learned about myself, my culture from an outside perspective, and about the world. Even if the students have culture shock--I had it too-- this is a process of discovery. The sex thing is not a necessary component to the "international experience." Sure, the people in the other country will find the foreigner more interesting and exotic than there counterparts which might cause them to "hit on" the student more often; however, the student makes the choice about whether they engage in this activity. Yes, there is little supervision, and immature kids can get into trouble by the temptations. But, this is part of growing up, and if they are going to do it in a foreign country, they would probably want to do it at home too. Parents should address these issues before they let their kids go, but I don't think you should not let them have this awesome experience because of fear about what they might do. This is only going to stifle them. International Studies is a great learning environment.

I think it depends a lot on the person. I have studied overseas a lot and have taken advantage of the experience to become fluent in several languages and to make friends from all over the place. There are, of course, people who want to go abroad in order to get away from their parents and to cut loose, but that's not the case for everyone.

it all depends on your priorities and goals. Nobody but you can make you do an/th you dont want to do. Studying abroad is fun, opens your eyes to wonderfull opportunities and if you happen to have a great sexual experience then thats great too. The purpose of going abroad is to educate yourself and have fun!just make sure to have support groups that can help you when you do experience a culture shock or just buy a calling card and call home!

Some weird assumption this! Parents can't check even if you study here (unless they teach in the same school/ college/ university and also do nothing but to keep tabs on their children. Dont fall prey to some stories that you hear. Half of them are just that, a BIG STORY - Fantasy!
But branding it this way is simply not done.

It all just depends on you..yourself... ur self esteem... ur self control... ur morals... principals...if u have to do such things, u dun need to head to another country.. I dun agree wid u.. if parents trust dere children enough 'n have brought dem up wid proper values, i dun suppose dey( d children) wud end up doing nething dat'll disgrace d parents. Period.

NOBODY GOES FOREIN COUNTRIES TO HAVE SEX. BUT AFTER GOING THERE THEY MAY CHANGE. FOR THAT WE CAN DO NOTHING. WHAT WE CAN DO IS - TELL THEM THE CONSEQUENCES AND WHAT R THE PROTECTIONS TO USE.
BUT TELLING THIS SHOULD NOT ENCOURAGE TO HAVE SEX
