Would you still have supported the above if a draft was in effect from the beginning?
Just give your best guess.

To How_Would; I didn't say there's a draft in effect now. Read it again. Good luck.

To Tom; It's not moot. It's a hypothetical. Can you answer it?

To Q-burt; Again with the moot. I like how you ascribe motive to my hypothetical question. Any reason why you didn't answer it?

If there was a draft in place at the start of this ??? YES , no doubt , I would have supported it , I would still have even if it included me or my son going there...I already have six cousins , two nieces, and a nephew already there ... It does not change how I view the war...

YES. Some sort of national service should be required of everyone-rich,middle, and poor. That would help spread the idea that there are some things more important then the playstation game down in the game room or what color to choose when getting that new car. Two years out of ones life is not too much to ask to support the ideals of freedom and liberty our country stands for-or did until the current congress started arguing war strategy with the executive branch. And I doubt sending 21,500 extra troops should be considered an escalation. Reinforcements would be a better term and has been used throughout military history when a need was deemed necessary for strategic purposes. The only reason it is criticized now is political expediency versus political will to win. It all depends on who is in and who is out. If there were a Democratic president, you wouldn't hear a peep from the left. Do you understand how many women have been liberated from subjugation in Afghanistan and Iraq??? But nary a word from NOW. Why? Because it is and always has been a democratic stronghold and to admit that their fellow sisters had been liberated by, of all things, a REPUBLICAN, would be out of the question. Such heresy would not be tolerated...period. Don't kid yourself. Its all politics.

Your question is moot. The reason we don't have a draft is that we generally get a better military with all volunteers. The best units in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam were the ones where you volunteered and had to qualify to get there. They just took that principle and expanded it to the entire military.

The question is moot.
There is not a draft and your just trying to get this tolook like another Viet Nam.
When are people going to understand that the only similarities between Iraq and Viet Nam is the lack of support from our own people, the bias of the media and the loser protesters?
seriously, there are too many hippy wanna-be's out there.
To answer...I am a voulenteer, so it would not affect me at all.
Edit -
Um...helloooo....the answer is above...guess your blind too

Good question, but I don't think a draft would have had any impact on my views.
I think Clinton should have handed Saddam his butt in a bag after the FIRST violation of the treaties he signed after the Gulf War.

if a draft was needed, it would be obvious, and it would be matter of fact. no one would support a draft if not needed.
