Go to START, click RUN, then in window type "msconfig" and click OK, then click STARTUP. Uncheck the boxes you do not want. You might want to do a restore on your computer and make a restore point. So later if you "accidentally" unchecked something and you do not know what to do, then you go to RESTORE and you are back before you make the mistake.

Go to START, ALL PROGRAMS, then click PC HELP & TOOLS and click RESTORE. It will explain.

The System Configuration Utility is the best way. Click Start, Run and type msconfig then click OK. Under the Startup tab uncheck the box you want to stop, click Ok and restart when asked. Be careful with what you are stopping because it can stop things you may need but you can always go back to msconfig and recheck the boxes again. Best thing is to Google the last word/file in the Command column and find out what exactly it is. Most of the first few listings will be very helpful in your decision.

Click on start, go to run, type in msconfig, then click the startup tab. All the programs that load at startup are there. Uncheck any programs that you do not want to start. Make sure you know what they are used for, before unchecking. If you are not sure, put the name in the google search engine, to find out..Good Luck..

I use the program "Chameleon Startup Manager" for it.
You can find it here:
http://www.neosoft-tools.com/windows-startup-manager.htm
It disables any startup programs and fully controls startup by selecting the programs to be launched, while customizing the startup settings (ie how often and when programs should be launched, etc).

go to Start, then Run, type in Msconfig
Once you get Msconfig up, check the startup tab. See what loads, and if it is not needed then uncheck it, and it will not load at start

Using the system configuration utility will offer a temporary solution, but the best way is to dump Microsoft and get Kubuntu at www.kubuntu.org as Microsoft products attract 114,000 viruses like a magnet.
