Depending on how much liquid he is drinking, it could be normal. Boys generally don't have UTI's because their Urethra is longer than a girls and it takes longer for the bacteria to enter the bladder. See a doctor if your urine is discolored, has a strange odor, or it hurts to urinate.

No, only common in girls (because the opening of the urethra is just a short distance from the bladder).

One cause in boys is using the same "joy rag" over and over to wipe up semen after masturbating. The old semen can breed bacteria that gets inside the urethra and causes infection. Best to use tissues or a clean handkerchief or towel.

Less common is kidney stones. They scratch the inside of the ureters (tubes from the kidneys to the bladder) and that can allow bacteria to breed.

Infections can effect everybody but there may be a bigger cause for why a young boy would get them.
