Having marketing experience from Mexico is translatable to Marketing in both the US and Canada. There are some industry differences between the 3 countries that affect marketing. For instance in Canada the banks and hospitals are fully governement controlled and marketing isn't as necessary as in the US.

A few other thoughts: I understand that you can receive a special US work visa because you have a business degree. Also the fact that you probably speak, read, write both Spanish and English can be skills that are highly sought in the US with major corporations.

Marketing is a universal career, it can segway into many different areas as well. Infact a high percentage of CEO's were involved in marketing prior.

I have a hard time believing marketing is one of the first departments to go. If your company is going down why would you get rid of sales, promotion, advertising, public relations and implementation planning? Usually when a company "goes down" they remove the least profitable segment, not just jump up and say "oh wait I know lets get rid of the sector that creates the money"

Marketing is universal, but it's usually the first department to get cut if a company falls on hard times.
