Now that Steve Traschel's gone, am I right in thinking there's a tie between Tom Glavine, Jose Reyes, David Wright and Aaron Heilman with 4 years? Is this a record- the shortest amount of time had with a team for the senior member of the team- barring expansion franchises that hadn't been around for four years?

Tom Glavine is the current longest tenured Met. He'll be playing his fifth season with the Mets in 2007 (he started his first season with the Mets in 2003). Aaron Heilman started his first season with the Mets in 2003 but he started halfway into the season, though (June 26, 2003). Jose Reyes made his major league debut with the Mets in June 10, 2003. David Wright started his big league season with the Mets in July 21, 2004 so there's no way he's been playing for the Mets for 4 years. I don't know if this is a record for the shortest amount of time a player had with a team to become the senior member of the team. It seems like it though.

Tom Glaive has been on the team the longest. Itwas in 2002 when he signed for 4 yrs and then signed a 1 yr deal.

Awesome question...I was looking at the roster on Wikipedia...and you're probably right. It's amazing how quickly the Mets turned over their roster - and for the better!
