rub ice directly in it so the gub gets hard and chip it off with your fingernail. Do in small sections. I had to do it on my cloth seats in my car, even after it had melted from the sun. Worked great and there was no oily residue form a "goo" remover or peanutbutter whic could stain your clothes.

If you can put it in the freezer, do that. If not, use ice cubes on it until it freezes and then scrap off as much as you can (the back of a plastic knife works well). Do not use peanut butter because that could make things worse.
If there is any residue, blot it with extra strength BenGay and pick off the residue with polyethylene plastic wrap (not Saran wrap). The bottom of the plastic wrap box will show if it is polyethylene which most plastic wraps are made of.
Then blot the area with a mild dish detergent and water solution and rinse well.

put article of clothing in a plastic bag and freeze it rock solid and then remove clothing from bag and the gum should come off handy enough
