Yep.. the Windors are German in origin.
King George V replaced the German-sounding title : Saxe-Coburg-Gotha with that of Windsor during the First World War.

A couple of the Queen's ancestors were German. Prince Albert her Great-Great-Grandfather was a native German, as was King George I, another distant relative, who came to power in 1714. Her Grandmother, Mary of Teck might also have been German.
So whilst people often claim she is German, these ancestral links are distant- she is more British than I am, and no-one ever questions my nationality! lol Hope this helps

our Queen is not German by birth, but when Queen Victoria married prince Albert, he was from the german family iof Saxe Coburg. that is when any german blood entered the royal family from their children. Lord Louis Mountbatten s real surname was Battenburg which was german , but during the first world war, there was such bad feeling against anyone associated with germany, that the family changed the name to Mountbatten.

All of the present Queen's ancestors from George III onwards have been born and lived in Britain. She has earlier ancestors who were born in Germany but like Sammy Davis Junior said when told to go back to Africa "Man it's a long time since I was there"

IF you are referring to the Queen of the United Kingdom, a simple check of the Internet should inform you that Her Majesty was born in England. She did NOT emigrate from Germany nor from anywhere else. Many generations back, one of her ancestors (King George I) was German. However, also remember that Her Majesty the Queen Mother, though born in England, was born to Scottish parents. So two of the present Queen's grandparents were Scots. And if you check you can find that Her Majesty is descended from Royalty of Scotland, probably Ireland (I'd have to check on that), Wales, and pre-Conquest England.

Queen Elizabeth II was born in England. Her father, King George VI was born in England. Her grandfather was born in England. The family did have roots in Germany, but that was a very, very long time ago.

She would be TOTALLY German if not for her mother who was Scottish. All the rest of her ancestry IS/WAS German!
PS Prince Philip may be from Greece but HIS FAMILY name is German and HE HIMSELF is German 100%. His Grandfather was the King of Greece, but his Grandfather was 100% German! The Greeks needed a King and he impressed them so much that they "asked him" (seriously) to become their King, even though he was German!
Queen Victoria's last name was Coburg and SHE WAS 100% GERMAN and married a cousin, Prince Albert of Saxe-Gotha who was 100% German!
Outside of the Queen Mother, all Queen Elizabeth's II's ancestors ARE German (I'm a big FAN) and study her family tree. However, her family IS BRITISH, I mean dear God, she's Queen of England, SHE IS ENGLAND!

If we all go back far enough we will find that our ancestors were from Africa. Anyone researching their family tree is amazed at the diversity of cultures and nationalities that are all mixed up to produce the current generation.
The Royal Family is no different. Above all, irrespective of The Monarch's family tree, Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God is THE QUEEN. Don't forget it!

The queen herself was born in England, as were her parents (actually, her mother was Scottish). Her royal house originated in Germany in the 1700's.
