They say it's normal for breast fed babies to go quite a few days (even a week or so) with out a bowel movement but....
Get in a warm bath with him and massage his belly in circles, clockwise. Use some lube on the thermometer and it does help, but don't insert it too far (1/2 in maybe). After the bath lay him on his back and move his legs like he is riding a bicycle. If you have a jumper for him, let him jump around and get things moving. If he goes too long, you can use a glycerin suppository (but check with your doctor first) Massage the belly often (not right after meals) always clockwise. The warm bath with massage usually does the trick and can make for a messy bath if you know what I mean.
Ps. Congrats on still breast feeding..that's great!!
Be warned when you start solid foods, this will happen again

you're able to no longer be that disturbing. some babys in basic terms dont poop usually. Is he gassy alot? you additionally can stimulate his colon with the help of putting a q-tip or thermometer in his butt (with petroleum jelly on it) approximately an inch is okay, and circulate it in a around action. I had to try this as quickly as and my toddler had one in all those super poop it become loopy! He pooped in all places, reason I didnt get the diaper on rapid sufficient. My toddler used to poop alot and then it progressively bogged down, and now he additionally poops another day or so. He could in basic terms be an "rare stooler" if he's gassy alot and whilst he does poop its alot and its delicate. If no longer whether, then it's time to difficulty. additionally difficulty if his abdomen is swollen or confusing.

I called my doctor on this question cause my son didn't poop either and they said it is perfectly normal for babies, to not got for up to a week, especially if there has been a change in his diet ( off breast milk, different formula, or just a certain type of food). I have heard though if you put a small amount or Karo syrup the clear one in there bottle it will help, I have never tried that though.

My son went through this around the same age and went for like 4-5 days. The doctor told me to give him a little bit of prune juice mixed with water. This really seemed to help. I swear it was only 45 minutes later and he went. They also said if he wasn't in pain, not to worry too much if it's only a couple of days. we started to give him about 2 oz of apple-prune juice to keep him regular and it really seemed to help. Good Luck. I know if they are in pain, it's really sad b/c there's not much you can do for them at that point.

You could try putting a couple tablespoonfulls of warm sterile water into a bulb syringe and squeezing it into his bottom (use some vaseline on the syringe) - that would probably 'get things moving' but I'd check with your doctor first to make sure he thinks it's okay.

Well, if his tummy doesn't feel hard, then you're probably ok. If he doesn't seem grouchy, also probably ok.
My 2 month old had this same thing, and my doc said it was ok to give her gerber apple/prune juice.....just beware....what comes out is slimy and runny....lol.

2 days is ok, that is normal. If he doesn't go in the day or so, you can soak him in a warm bath with baking soda.
