The other day I wasn't feeling well, so I slept for practically 14 hours straight - way longer than normal. And I swear, when I woke up I looked like I hadn't shaved in 5 days, I practically had a full beard.

It was weird. It made me wonder if our hair grows a lot faster when we are sleeping than when we are awake. I slept about 3x longer than I normally do. I know sleep is important, but I wonder if our bodies recover and re-grow cells that much during sleep.

i say yes - as the body recuperates, and young people do most of their growing while asleep.

Interesting question - thanks for that.

Everything is done during sleep, when it comes to the body and its regeneration and growth processes. Its a proven fact that we will not only grow in our sleep(animals, too) but we also retain everything that we learned that day and will not be able to remember any new information until sleep has occurred. This includes all growth-hair, nails, braincells, and body parts!! So, here's to a hairy night's sleep!
