i have a friend who claims that he beat killer instinct for sega genesis with fullgore and when he beat the last guy the screen flashed and said he had 29 hours to live and began a countdown...he then goes on to explain that he attempted to shut down his console but could not, so was forced to pull the plug...has anyone ever heard of this happening? my friend isn't a shmuck that makes stuff up and he swears on his life that it happened.

Killer Instinct was a SNES exclusive, when Rare was a second-party developer for Nintendo (like Retro, Argonaut, DMA, Factor 5 and Monster).

You're probably thinking of Shaq Fu. That game killed a lot of people, a little bit on the inside, who played it.

Your friend is a shmuck. He will die soon.

Do you know why?

Here's why:
-> Killer instinct was NEVER released on genesis. It had sole rights to Nintendo. Thus it never appeared on a sega system.

-> You don't 'shutdown' a console, you switch it off.

I rest my case =)

I remember playing back in the day, but I never herd of such a thing. I looked for sources for about 15+ minutes, didn't find a thing. Tell him to play it. If it happened it shouldn't be to hard for him to do it again.
