When you install most games they will automatically conduct a search of your computer to ensure that you have the proper programs and those programs are up to date. It will inform you of any necessary programs that are not currently installed on your computer. In most cases the game will provide a freeware version of any additional software needed to run it. For example: You may have seen other games that make sure you have a current version of "Direct X" then will update the program needed.

If your having problems playing your games on a network there are three likely causes;

1. There is a networking problem that isn't allowing your computer to properly communicate with other computers in the network. Test this by seeing if you can access other functions through the network. If you find that you have problems accessing the network at all you may want to contact the IT department controlling the network to inform them of the problem.

2. The network may be protected against multi-player games. This is especially true in colleges and universities where much of their funding comes from the state thus restricting the network to educational uses. A network administrator has a variety of tools available to prevent unauthorized programs from being run through network. As in #1, you need to contact the IT department to make sure they will allow you to play this game on their network.

3. The game may not be set up to run through a network. Some games exist that will allow for online play or even hot seat play but, for some reason, not compatible with networks.

I hope this information helps you.
