Somebody sent me a very mean-spirited email. I want to know their real name.

Well, you can try searching by the email address..look thru a search engine for 'email search', try just typing the email into a search engine (yahoo, google, msn). You can also go to the isp that hosts the email server...without giving out the whole email, can you post what comes after the @ sign? I can tell you what the company name is and so forth. It's possible that this email could be breaking their company/business policy. But if you really just want to know who it is, pass out the host name, @ what? .com,.net, .org, .edu, etc??

You can not -
Simply report to Yahoo customer services or if you use hotmail email a copy and full header statement to abuse@hotmail.com.

Other than that ignore it and report as spam.

depends,
the person might have created that e-mail address just to send the mail.

try to see if there are any options to view profile, or something.
