4 months ago I was prescribed Metformin because I am insulin resistant. The doctor told me to check with a home kit if I was ovulating, I have not for those months. I have my next appointment next week. What is next? should I ask for Clomid. Should I go to a Reproductive Endocrinologist? Fertility clinic, Help!!

Those kits are tricky---just because you didn't catch it right (to get a "positive" on the test) doesn't mean you're not ovulating. (Unless you have a kit whereby you check every single day)

I would definitely ask my REGULAR OB for some clomid. They can prescribe it, and it's one of the first things a specialist owould try with you.

I would do Clomid for at least 6 months before going through all the hassle and expense of the specialists. Your regular OB can do many of the same things the specialists do. A lot of it is a racket....even your dr. making a referral to a specialist....It's not that there are necessarily financial kickbacks, but it's still very much an "I'll scratch your back" type of world. Definitely not patient-centered.

Hmmmm.....Its been a year and a half? Yeah, you might want to try a fertility clinic. Maybe fertilize the eggs outside of the womb and then place them back in fertilized. Sounds like that's waht you should do, of course, there are couples who've been trying for 6 years or more.....hmmmm, up to you, but that;s what I would do.

ask your doctor for clomid as well....most woman who have PCOS and take metformin and clomid together get pregnant. granted some can get pregnant with just metformin or just clomid alone but others need the additional help...So talk to your doctor.. good luck to you and lots of baby dust
