How many Idols do we need? Besides decent pipes none of them, save Kelly Clarkson, have much to offer in an artistic sense. People just seem to be more concerned with the soap operish aspects of their personal lives than with the music they make.

american idol is so dumb. it got old quick i probably watched 3 episodes from the first season and now i only watch the auditions cuz they people who adition are so hilarious. but yeah you would think people would get sick of simon......he's so irritating and annoying.

Eventually people will tire of it. I actually took a break after the 3rd season and did not watch the 4th or the 5th.
I agree the excitement and pure talent of the first season of American Idol will never be topped. Kelly Clarkson is still amazing while the others are forgettable.
I can't understand why Survivor and Big Brother are still on the air!

Really? I am a little tired of Idol myself. This season is very rushed with the Hollywood week.
For me I like Kelly Clarkson, and Carrie Underwood. The two of them have done very well IMO.
The others haven't had the same success as of yet. Look at the show America's Next Top Model - have any of those girls really become huge success stories? I'd have to say no, BUT people still enjoy the whole watching of the show process.
As long as there are enough viewers the show will stay on.

Well I like watching them sing and seeing who America votes for (and I love my Canadian Idol too) but I get the impression the judges are likely get sick of it and are a lot more sarcastic and quick to judge. I don't think they enjoy this part of the competition much, and being as they have money invested and are looking towards the end and the contracts they are going to make I think they are biased with who they pick.
People are a little to cocky for their own good and should kiss butt if they want to get locked into the show. After that they're in and they should be smart enough to play the judges too, so they don't end up influencing the voters. Once you get where you want to be you can say whatever...but don't bite the hand that feeds you.
As Trump says, it's not personal, it's business.

That's not true at all...in fact that show makes sure to limit the "soap operish" aspects of the contestants lives--knowing these things can affect how fans vote...they want fans t vote strictly on singing skills. The personal lives of these contestants are all done by the media & fans or close relatives of the fans.
I'm one of A.I.'s biggest fans & I'll only get tired of A.I. if they change the judges or if they exclude fans from being involved as much as we are now by the voting procedures.

Well, the show makes money for the suits.
And many people just wish to be a pop star, even though they may simply not be qualified to do so. Maybe because nobody likes what's on TV anymore except for a few shows. And the Super-Bowl.
I don't like todays music much, simply all too cookie-cutter.

Naturally, I can't answer for people, but I guess that I'm a "people". I'm darn sick of it. Also, I can go a long long time without missing Cowell.
The last few shows, when all of the clowns have been eliminated aren't too awfully bad, a few notches above a blank screen.

no i like american idol sometimes it gets a bit boring the best parts the auditions where else can u watch idiots go on national tv and make complete fools of themselves and then get upset when people make fun of them (nee: tell the truth)

I sure hope so! The guy I am talking to didnt call me last night until late because he was watching that crap! I never got into it.. i think people like to watch it to laugh at people for the most part.. Some people need to really get out and get a life!

Of course, besides American Idol is all planed out, that show is about as fake as a non-bulimic model.
