You need to call you pediatrician NOW. The doctor's at the ER did something similiar to my daughter when she was about the same age. I took her to her doctor and found out that it was the wrong medicine and that it could have been very fatal if I hadn't been the "over protective kind of mom". Thank God they were able to reverse what the ER had done. So do yourself a favour and get off here and call now!!!!!

My son was on the same medecine at 4 months old. He had a horrible cold and thrush in his mouth. I did notice some changes with his bowel movements but his was the opposite way. The coughing up the phlem is good though, cuz he needs to get it out of his lungs. If you don't feel good about that medeicine, inquire about a antibiotic called Ceflaclor. After the zithromax didn't really work too well for him. It worked wonders and didn't notice any side effects from it.

It does effect the liver, but you need to get your baby well, and most dr's use this medicine, feed your son soup and Popsicles,
most people sleep alto when they are sick babies are the same.
Make sure you are not giving him milk, it only prolongs things.

Try to use other methods besides antibiotics, that should be your last resort. Use humidifiers, saline nasal drops, elevating head of bed, luke warm baths for fever.
