I am having a beach wedding and will be barefoot for the ceremony. I have to wear shoes for the reception on the deck. My dress has a hankerchef hem line and ends at my shins. I want to wear some sort of flip flops or sandals but the majority of the ones I've seen so far are cheap and cheesy looking. Also I can not have anything with a large heel. My fiance is 5'5 and I am 5'9.

I can't go barefoot at the reception due to the fact we are having glassware and in the case a glass breaks its an insurance liabilty thing.

For a beach wedding, even if the reception is on the deck, why not use barefoot sandals? Unless you're worried about splinters that is. These come in many kinds of beads & don't cost much at all, try Ebay for them.

Sounds like you enjoy being barefoot. Ever heard of, or try "barefoot sandals". They are a very attractive and unique alternative to wearing shoes. The first link below even has a couple bridal designs. Good luck with your search and Congradulations on your wedding.

First off, congratulations on your future wedding! This period can be very stressful for you, so it's good your looking at all your resources.

If you want high-end white flats, you can go to all the major retailers or peruse through catelogues, picking a designer label like Saks or something.

However, since you're on a budget, my suggestion is that you hit the department stores. JCPenney's and Sear's have entire departments specializing in bridal wear. Additionally, their shoe departments are pretty extensive, you may find what you want there. My sister-in-law ordered inexpensive heels for her wedding. For me, I got my shoes dyed and ordered from Payless Shoesource, where you can custom-order wedding shoes for both brides and bridesmaids according to your wants and budget restrictions. I personally recommend Payless.

Happy hunting!

for my wedding, i didn't want to wear heels either, so i got these slip-on flats that were white with little sequins...they looked kind of middle eastern. i wanted to wear flip-flops, but i had to come to some sort of compromise with my mother the southern belle...the flats were comfy. i think they were made by report. you should look on zappos.com or shoes.com. those are great sites. congratulations. being married is awesome!

froogle.com ! Try 'beaded sandal' or 'designer sandal'. There are quite a few flat styles with beading or decoration that look lovely.
