My daughter just went through this kind of thing not to long ago...this is what she would tell you. First you have to try to talk to her and tell her that you didn't say what she thinks you said about her and tell her what you actually said. Then when you're friends, or making up, tell her not to listen to what everybody says b/c some people are just stupid and they can't hear the right things that people say, some people just like to cause drama.

This is simple. Clarify what you REALLY said with your friend and then clarify it with the person your best friend said it to. Afterwards, take your best friend aside and respectfully, but firmly tell them you didn't appreciate it and to make sure they COMPLETELY understands what you said before telling someone else...trust me, they won't do it again.

If it is really your best friend talk it out with her and let her really understand what it was that you said otherwise just forget it and move on.
