I am currently going through the same thing - I am 10 weeks pregnant, when i was 6 weeks, i noticed the same. I called the doc and he said that brown spotting and even bright red spotting is normal - not period like, just enough to wip off. I've been having spotting every week and he told me it's normal for your body to this, it's realizing it's pregnant and doesn't have to menstruate. If shes worried about a miscarriage, it is possible, but she'd know if she was haing one, symptoms include severe bleeding of bright red blood and severe stomach cramps. If she's really worried, call the doc. I think she'll be ok - but it's always safer to check. Crazy things happen to your body when you get pregnant ( I have 3 kids) So I know - they have all been different. I think she'll be ok. Good luck!

No bleeding is "normal" during pregnancy especially when accompanied by cramping. Some spotting or bleeding isn't as concerning as others. The fact that the spotting is brown indicates old blood which can be OK. Look at this link for more info. Please tell her to contact her doctor just in case. Better safe than sorry.

Bright red spotting, or spotting with cramps is a reason to call the dr. Have her do so immediately. She may not have had bright red but the spotting with cramps could be a bad sign.

As I have heard, brown spotting is the body getting rid of old blood. HOWEVER, because she is pregnant it could be something more...or nothing at all. The best thing to do would be to consult a doctor. Worrying about it could cause her unnecessary stress. I hope everything works out.

Cramping is normal, its the round ligament stretching. It can last the entire pregnancy. As Far as the spotting, I would call the Dr. I didn't have spotting, it could be a problem with the placenta or it could be normal for her. We don't know.

Good luck.

Wow. This is so common on here. I am 6 weeks & have had the samething for a week now without the cramping. I saw my doc & he had my hormones tested & they have doubled which is a good sign. I have an u/s on Mon.

***Tell her to make a doc appt.

call the doctor right away, better safe than sorry! and bleeding is a sign of a possible miscarrage. although her's was brown so that might be the same thing, i have no idea! but tell her to get to the doc's right away, because there may be a problem! don't hesitate, they may be able to comfort her and say there's nothing wrong...

She should call the doctor and tell them exactly all of her symptoms, she doesnt want to find out something bad to late. It can never hurt to make a phone call, it can only help the situation.
