Ghost shrimp carry the eggs on the underside of the body until they hatch. As you may notice, the body is clear but the area where the eggs are, is green. It is rather difficult to hatch out the eggs because the water has to stay nearly the same conditions. Ghost shrimp are at the bottom of the food chain and everyone else likes to eat them. I have managed to keep a pair alive for at least 2 years. The pair ended up being about 3" long. The tank was heavily planted and only had shrimp in it. I fed crushed up fish flakes and freeze dried brine shrimp. If you think the ghost shrimp is interesting, you may want to try keeping the vampire shrimp or the flower shrimp from Africa. They are brown and much larger.

Well, the female carries her eggs until they are ready to hatch, and then she releases them. You can see them under her abdomen, they look like little brownish green balls.
