This very much depends on what subject you want to study.

As a general rule, the older universities are better thought of than the newer ones. But in certain subjects there can be weird exceptions to this - I used to work in a University College that was perfectly OK but nothing to write home about - except in Graphic Design (where its students won national awards that weren't even student awards - they just won against everyone!) and music management (because hardly anyone else offered it, they actually had a waiting list!)

So it's very much down to what you want to study. Bear in mind that in British Universities you typically study only one subject (maybe two, as a joint honours or major-minor combination) in depth, rather than a range of different subjects. So if you look into who does your subject best, you should be able to narrow down your options.

Hope this helps!
